  • Peaks & Valleys Behavioral Health currently accepts the following insurance plans:

    • Aetna

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield

    • Cigna

    • Oscar

    • Oxford

    • United Healthcare

I am also an out-of-network provider. Depending on your insurance plan, you may qualify for out-of-network benefits. If you're eligible and plan to utilize these benefits, I would be happy to provide a super bill for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. You will be responsible for paying the full session rate at the time of your appointment.

  • A super bill is a document that can be provided to you after services that includes information such as service date, type of services, diagnoses, and costs of services. If you choose to pay for therapy out-of-pocket and your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, your therapist may be able to provide you with a super bill to submit to your insurance plan for partial reimbursement for services.

Not all insurance plans offer out-of- network benefits; therefore, it is recommended that you check with your insurance directly to confirm if you have coverage. Here are some questions to consider asking them:

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental/behavioral health?

    • With my plan, how much will I be reimbursed for a 53-60 minute (CPT code: 90837) or 38-52 minute (CPT code: 90834) individual psychotherapy session?

    • Is there a deductible that needs to be met before I can utilize my out-of-network benefits?

    • What documentation do I need to provide in order to receive reimbursement? Can you please instruct me on how to submit my claim?

Please note that handling the super bill with the insurance company is solely the responsibility of the client.

  • There are many potential benefits to private pay practices, as insurance companies can often dictate the types of treatment you can receive and the duration of that treatment. You should know that filing any kind of claim with your insurance company requires a diagnosis of a mental health disorder. Some clients may not want this on their record in order to protect their privacy and confidentiality or may not meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis.

At Peaks & Valleys, I believe this is a personal choice, and you should dictate what your therapy treatment looks like. I would be happy to provide you with the paperwork necessary to submit an out-of-network claim to your insurance company should you choose to go that route.

  • According to the American Psychological Association, teletherapy is just as effective as in-person psychotherapy. In fact, it even removes some barriers to receiving support (i.e., lack of transportation or a long commute time, childcare challenges, privacy concerns, illness, etc.).

While you do not necessarily have to be home to engage in your teletherapy session, I do ask that you are in a safe and private location that provides you the space to focus on yourself - free from distraction and interruption.

  • During your first session, we will review general practice policies and answer any questions you may have, and focus on getting to know you and your unique needs. We will discuss your personal history, including any health issues, challenges with mental/behavioral health, prior experiences in therapy (if applicable), your interests/hobbies, family dynamics, relationships, work/school, and any other relevant information. After wrapping up this exchange, we will talk about what is bringing you into therapy and your goals.

The following session, we will build upon the first session, continuing to build rapport and help you feel more comfortable in this space and this process. We will discuss more relevant details in your life that may come up in the therapeutic space, and collaborate to create your treatment goals and what we will work on into order to meet those goals. From here, the true work begins!

  • Beginning therapy is an important step, and I want to make the process as simple as possible. To get started, visit the Contact tab at the top of the page to self-schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. During this phone call, we’ll discuss what you’re looking to work on in therapy, my approach and style, and whether we’re a good fit. If we decide to move forward, we’ll go over the next steps for beginning the therapy process. I look forward to connecting with you!
